Have you thought about doing an Escape Room Breakout activity, but felt somewhat hesitant? If so, this smaller "Mini-Breakout" is just what you need to get your feet wet! It's is designed to act as either a short "Exit Ticket" game or a small homework/review activity, and should only take approximately 10-15 minutes. And since this is a digital game, absolutely NO prep work is needed!!! So what are you waiting for?
Engage your students and spark their excitement with this mini-digital breakout escape room game for Act 2, scenes 2-4, of William Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar: a play about the power of persuasion! This is a sequel game to Act 1, and Act 2.1 (found at my TPT store). Students have been recruited into the “Fellowship of Free Thought” in hopes of stopping the Mastermind Manipulators of Rome. They must solve the puzzles in time, otherwise free thought will be doomed forever. The game’s progression and professional design quality will hook your students from the start! (To make this game, I utilized both Google Sites and Google Forms, however, a Google Sign in is not necessary to play).
As students read scenes 2-4, this digital game will help them review the material and underlying conflicts/themes, while also testing their critical thinking skills. It can be played after you conclude the scene (as an exit ticket or homework activity), or students can play this in conjunction with previous games for Act 1 or all together, as the storyline and goals of this game progress throughout both acts (additional games will be found at my TPT store).
The game is designed to take students approximately 10-15 minutes, but that time frame is merely suggested, as you can adjust it as you deem fit, especially if you are combining all of the games for Acts 1-2. Students will work either individually, in pairs, or in small groups to solve puzzles.
NO PREP WORK NEEDED!!!! All you need to do is share the link to the game(s) on your online classroom (ie: Google Classroom), project it onto a SmartBoard or Screen, or by printing it out for students if you do not have access to the Internet.
**This past year, I did my first breakout escape game with my students, and they were incredibly engaged, and also begged to play more games. This is a real hit!!**
