This St. Patrick's Day themed lesson provides fun and engaging hands-on practice for area and perimeter concepts. Have fun!
Here's What You Get:
1.Cut out lettered figures. Teacher may choose to precut and put in baggies or envelopes for students.
Arrange according to the layout sheet on the provided 1” Graph Paper.
2.Trace around and label each figure with a colored pencil.
3.Next, find the area and perimeter of each shape and label on the Graph Paper (see Labeled Key)
-To find the area, count up the squares inside the figure.
-To find the perimeter, use a 12 in. piece of yarn or string (optional) to measure the distance around the outside. Once students follow their string around the figure they will pick it up and place the yarn next to their rulers to determine the perimeter. *Each shape has a perimeter of 12 in.
