Happy St. Pat's Day! Capture your students' enthusiasm for the holiday and use it to get them engaged in math learning. Your students will put their knowledge of coordinate systems, coordinate graphing, and ordered pairs to work creating a mystery picture with a seasonal theme for St. Patrick's Day. Students plot points from a list of ordered pairs and then connect the dots to form a shamrock.
The coordinate plane includes positive numbers only. Two versions of the blank graph are included: one with numbers around all four sides of the graph (to make plotting points easier) and one with numbers only along the left and bottom (to be more accurate to the coordinate plane). There are seven pages included: cover, teaching notes, a page listing coordinates to be plotted, 2 blank graph options for students, a completed graph page answer key, and a colored version of the completed figure. This activity is easier than the Pot O' Gold coordinate graphing activity
, and is a good starting point for beginners. You may also want to check out the bat graph
, which is another simple outline coordinate graphing activity for beginners.
