This game is a great way to practice naming shapes and their attributes. On their turn, students draw a card and choose a pattern block shape that is described by the card. Some cards show a picture of a shape. Some have the name of the shape like “square.” Some cards describe a shape’s attributes like “congruent sides.” Some cards refer to more than one shape. If students draw a card that says “A shape with congruent sides,” they could choose the square, the rhombus, the hexagon, or the equilateral triangle! Each shape has a different point value. Students keep track of their shapes and points on the included shape collector recording page. At the end of the game, students add up all their points. The player with the most points wins! Includes 36 cards and a recording sheet in color and black and white. You will need to provide the pattern blocks.
