This PowerPoint is a great introduction for middle school to high school aged students to learn the Elements of Art: Shape and Form. The slideshow gives definitions in English and Spanish (great for bilingual classes/schools) and allows the students to relate these shapes and forms to actual real life objects, then displays works of art that use either shapes or forms as well. There are a few slides included that has the students write the definitions in journals as well as draw the forms and shapes as well. At the end of the slideshow, after viewing many artists that use geometric shapes in their artwork, there are two projects outlined that will compliment these lessons. Many other art projects can be done along with this lesson, but two of the ones that I am presently using are included: Geometric prisms made from straws and an abstract 2-dimensional geometric shape artwork where the students have the choice of materials.
