Shape Images is a Power Point to help students think about shapes. It isn't a lesson in which answers are provided. It is simply a tool to get students thinking through a Common Core lens. The Power Point provides students with a shape image. They are given 5 seconds to look at the picture and then the teacher clicks to the next slide. This slide encourages students to draw what they saw. Using whiteboards is handy, but good old fashion paper and pencil works as well. The teacher then clicks to the next slide and provides students with some discussion time. The slides can be shown in order or pick up where you left off. The Shape Image Power Point makes for a good brain break activity, going through as many slide as you have time for.
The slides include several plane and solid shapes. There is also a page that provides students with some question ideas for discussion time. The ending of discussion time is a good time for the teacher to restate truths that were discussed and clarify any misunderstandings that students have.
