Shape Sharks is full of shape-chomping fun! These shark-themed 2-D shape activities are a perfect addition to your classroom for working on recognizing, sorting, matching, and drawing shapes. It includes:
FEED THE SHARK- Attach the shark to an empty box and during circle time, students feed the shape to the tune of baby shark. Shapes included are circle, triangle, square, rectangle, oval, diamond/rhombus, pentagon, hexagon, octagon, and trapezoid. You can omit shapes based on the needs of your class. This sorting activity also works great in a center. Task cards are included.
SHAPE SHARK CLIP CARDS- Students choose the correct shape to match the shape of the shark.
SHAPE ATTACK GAME- Students take turns drawing cards from the "ocean" (a pile in the middle"). If they can name the shape, then they can keep it. If they draw a shark card that says shape attack, they have to put their cards back in the ocean. Keep playing for a long as desired. *Alternatively, you could a play a shape version of "Go Fish" with the shape cards and omit the sharks.
WRITE THE ROOM with SHAPE SHARKS- Students search for shape sharks in the classroom and use a recording sheet. Three versions of recording sheets are offered.
SHAPE WORKSHEETS- Roll and Draw Shapes, Color Coded Shark Shapes, Hungry Sharks Shape Matching, and How Many Sides?
SHAPE SHARK CRAFTIVITY- Students draw a shape or object that has a shape (example: cookie for circle) in the mouth of their shark. Then they color and cut out shark. Set aside and have students complete the writing prompt. Finally, attach the shark to their paper.
