Three Shape Sorting & Matching Activities that can be made into:
File Folders and Sorting Mats
There are two different sizes for each activity to make it easier to create into File Folder game (smaller sized turkey) and into Sorting Mats (the larger turkey).
Directions: Print, cut and laminate pieces. If you just want to create a file folder game and want the smaller sized turkeys you can just pick the pages to print by de-selecting print all and type in the pages you want printed (i.e. pages 30-32).
Directions for students:
Shape Turkeys- Review shapes. Students will match the shape feathers that match to the shape of the turkeys body. I.E. the turkey that has a triangular body, the student will place the triangle feather’s to make the turkey. Works on: Triangle, Square, Rectangle, Circle and Oval.
Turkey Shape Sort- After reviewing shapes, students will identify the shape on the turkeys body. Students will then find the feathers that have the same shapes in them to match to their turkey. Works on the following shapes: Circle, oval, rectangle, square, triangle, diamond, heart, star, pentagon and hexagon.
Turkey Shape Matching- Students will identify shapes on the turkeys feathers. Students will find the circle that has the correct shape inside. Students will place circle onto the belly of the turkey with the matching feathers. Students can either match the shape or the word onto the circle. Works on the following shapes: Circle, oval, rectangle, square, triangle, diamond, heart, star, pentagon and hexagon.
Modifications: When creating file folder games, only place a few turkeys on one side of the file folder. You can fold one side over so the student can’t see all the turkeys to make it easier, or open the whole file folder to make it more challenging. Students can be given one turkey to do at a time, one feather to sort at a time, only have to sort a smaller amount of feathers instead all six or any modifications that will help your student be successful. While making the file folder games, you can place 2, 3, 4 turkeys onto one page to make the field easier or more challenging.
Thanks & enjoy!
