PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This is a combination of my plane shapes unit and my solid shapes unit. Both are for kindergarten and are aligned with the common core standards. Each unit lasts two weeks for a combined four weeks of instruction.

Plane Shapes Unit:

This is a two week unit that I use in my kindergarten classroom to teach plane shapes. It is aligned with the common core standards (K.G.1, K.G.2, K.G.4, K.G.5, K.G.6, and K.MD.3).

Each of the ten lessons includes an easy to follow lesson plan (ready to turn into your principal!) and all necessary worksheets. Two mini-assessments are also included, one for the end of each week.

At the end of this unit, your students will be able to:
*Identify circles, squares, triangles, rectangles, and hexagons
*Find these shapes in the environment
*Build larger shapes from smaller plane shapes
*Sort shapes by color, size, and number of sides
*Compare plane shapes
*Graph plane shapes

Solid Shapes Unit:

This is a two week unit that I use in my kindergarten classroom to teach solid shapes. It is aligned with the common core standards (K.G.1, K.G.2, K.G.3, K.G.4, K.G.5, K.MD.3, ). It builds on our previous plane shapes unit.

These lessons also introduces position words (above, below, top, middle, bottom, in front of, next to, behind, inside, outside, beside) and uses shapes to reinforce these concepts.

Each of the ten lessons includes an easy to follow lesson plan and all necessary worksheets. Two mini-assessments are also included, one for the end of each week.

At the end of this unit, your students will be able to:
*Identify cubes, cones, cylinders, and spheres
*Find these shapes in the environment
*Build objects using these shapes
*Sort shapes by color, size, and number of sides
*Identify shapes as flat or solid
*Compare plane and solid shapes
*Use the words top, middle, bottom, inside, outside, behind, in front of, next to and beside to describe the position of solid and plane shapes

Please note that these lessons include the use of solid shape blocks, so you must have some available to use. I was able to purchase a great set online.

Please message me if you have any questions. Enjoy!
