This is a mini strip book that teaches eleven shapes, eleven colors, and the sight words "the" and "is". It also helps children learn about reading sentences from left to right. This document features my own handwritten font "Get Real". In my class we learn about shapes at the beginning of the year. We practice writing the sight words "the" and "is" then make this book to reinforce what we've learned. Print these pages and cut them into strips on the dashed lines so that each strip has one sentence. Have your students write "The" on the first line of each strip (making sure to use an uppercase T) and "is" on the second line. Staple the strips together and you have a book that kids can read to their families. Have them touch each word/shape as they read aloud: "The triangle is red."
There is a second version included in which the color words are grey so kids can trace the words with colored markers themselves.
