This shape sorting activity was designed to meet the curricular needs of pre k and kindergarten students. This game is also appropriate for homeschool and special education classrooms. This activity makes a great workstation for students to work independently, in partner pairs or in small groups. To complete the activity, students must match the picture cards to their corresponding sorting mat. Once they have completed the sort they can then complete the extension activities.
Not only does this set make a great workstation, you could also use it as an assessment tool. Students could also use these materials as a fast finisher activity or a take home activity.
The materials in this pack can be used in a variety of ways. In addition to their use as a shape sorting activity, you can also print off multiple copies of the shape cards and students can play a game of memory, go fish or concentration. These cards can also be printed and used in a pocket chart for independent work or as demonstration materials for small and large group discussions.
