After playing many enjoyable games of Battleship with my children, I decided to create a similar math game that would also be exciting and require application of math skills. Although I originally intended the game to be used in my lower level math classes to help change the students' perceptions of math education, I found it to be successful in my other classes as well.
The Shapes Versus Shapes game is played in pairs and incorporates strategy, reinforces certain geometric shapes, applies Cartesian Coordinates, and encourages reasonable guessing.
Besides the two printable pages, red, black and blue markers (or crayons) are needed. Only the game sheet is required for repeated games.
