Sharecropping Simulation is a fun dice game that can be used to teach students how the sharecropping system worked and how those who were a part of the system were often taken advantage of. During the activity, students will work as a sharecropper for a wealthy plantation owner. Students will roll dice to find out how much tobacco they are able to harvest each year. Then, students will calculate how much money they made from the harvest and subtract what is owed to the plantation owner. Hopefully, students will be able to save enough money to leave and start their own small farm!
