Looking for a way to continually reinforce early reading skills, model strategy language, and teach new reading skills in way that is easy to use and students actually enjoy? Then add this 5-day protocol for shared reading to your day.
Shared reading is a balanced literacy component in which all eyes are on the same enlarged text (big book or projected text). This 5-day protocol can be used with any fiction text or poem and practices comprehension, accuracy, fluency, and vocabulary in context in 10-15 minutes per day. This template has been used successfully in grades K-2 and has been reworked several times to align with both Common Core standards and Fountas and Pinnell's Continuum of Literacy Learning.
Shared Reading is one of the most effective strategies you can use to reinforce and rapidly grow reading skills for your entire class.
Use in conjunction with my Shared Reading Plan for nonfiction text.
