This is the first in a series of related shared reading lessons using the book, Each Peach Pear Plum, by Janet and Allan Ahlberg. It is designed for grade 1 but can easily be adapted for older grades with minimal modifications. **The lesson can also very easily be adapted to accommodate a different text selection***
Three student learning objectives are targeted:
• Recognize first word capitalization in sentences.
• Derive information from pictures in the text (i.e. find each character)
• Participate in “turn and talk” discussions with their peers about the text being read
This lesson follows the gradual release of student responsibilities process (Modeling, Guided Practice, Independent Practice)
