Shared repeated reading is always a very fun popular activity to do in the classroom. But do you know the benefits?
Reviews site words
Decreases speech pauses
Reduces word errors
Directions: First, model reading the poem/nursery rhyme/song. Next, one student reads the purple line, his/her partner reads the red line. When they get to blue, both read it together. When the students are finished practicing, you put it up on the screen and do a class reading. Other ideas include doing girls read the purple lines, boys read the red lines, everyone reads the blue lines. As long as you can
divide the class up into two teams (split the room down the middle, etc.) you will be amazed how fun this is. I absolutely loved doing shared reading like this. It was great fun for all!
