These accountable talk posters are a great way to start a discussion about a text at any point in the reading. You will be amazed with your students' comments! Sometimes, all kids need is a bit of prompting. This resource is great for speaking and listening practice for ELL students, but all students truly benefit from verbal conversation.
HOW TO USE: After a good stopping point in guided reading, allow students one quiet minute (display a timer) to come up with a "share". Explain to them that they may choose from any of the displayed "shares" and they must be ready to share it aloud if they are called on (I like to pull sticks). Once you select one student to share, allow students one more minute to come up with reply for that student's "share' by choosing from the list of the "replies". Choose randomly again, and then allow for any other "shares" or "replies" if time allows.
PRINT: From PowerPoint: file > print > print full-page slides *color printing allows for color-coded shares (green) and replies (blue)
-An editable .pptx file (inludes 6 shares, 6 replies, and 2 labels)
