This packet contains 4 documents that I use to help prepare my students for a shark dissection. There's a simple shark anatomy worksheet that lists internal and external structures for students to write the functions for. There's also an answer key for this worksheet. I've used the worksheet in 2 different ways: as a notesheet where I provided students with the functions to copy down and also as a worksheet where students researched the functions online.
In addition to the worksheet, the packet contains a 2-page test and an answer key that are based directly on the worksheet. The test lists functions for various internal and external shark structures and requires that the students fill in the structure name.
The structures presented in the worksheet and test are:
Ampullae of Lorenzini
Spiral valve intestine
Shark anatomy is fascinating and my students tell me that dissecting a shark is one of the most exciting things they do in middle school!
