The Shark Tank Renewable Energy Project is a great way to close up your unit on renewable and nonrenewable energy sources to students! Students will then take what they have learned about energy sources and participate in a mock "Shark Tank" (based off the popular TV show) where they will use their knowledge of renewable energy sources to create/modify a device that will harness a renewable energy source. I tell them that if you can google your invention and something like it already comes up, go back to the drawing board!
Students will present to the Sharks (you the teacher as well as one student from each group not presenting). You can rotate students so that each student gets to be part of the "Shark" evaluation.
The Renewable energy lesson includes:
*Student project check list
*Group Grade Evaluation Sheet
*Shark Tank Presentation Grade Rubric
My students really enjoy using the Shark Tank style presentation projects to follow up content we have learned in class.
