Fins to Left!! Fins to the Right!! It's Shark Week!! How exciting for primary learners to have a week dedicated to learning about one of the ocean's most fascinating creatures! This mini unit is a great unit for any classroom! I have included an expository writing lesson on for "Be a Shark Expert", learn about shark vocabulary in the ABC's of Sharks (student recording book included!), and unscramble sentences in "Swimmin' With Sharks" to learn new and interesting facts. For those budding scientists, there is a "Save the Shark" t-shirt activity where students will be alerted to the dwindling shark populations and come up with a t-shirt slogan to help save the shark. There are two math centers: Measure that Fin (non-standard measurement) and Spin, Tally, and Graph a Shark to be familiar with shark names (Data). And for the fun, there are two crafts: Shark Jaws (for scissors skills) and a Shark Headband! Totally fun!! Check out the preview!
