This project asks students to create a poem, song, or rap about Shays' Rebellion. I use this after a lecture on the Articles of Confederation and the Rebellion. Students love it and it truly helps them see that the ultimate significance was that Americans realized the Articles of Confederation were ultimately too weak.
Students have found fantastic rap beats online and some favorite Karaoke versions of songs used were: The Fresh Prince of Bel Air Theme Song and anything from Taylor Swift.
I've done this project for two years and at first students are hesitant with performing but then they really get into it so I hope it's helpful in your classrooms! Please let me know how it goes and if you have any helpful feedback if you try it out.
