This is a script that should be read while watching the youtube video link (included). Make sure you practice and know what is happening in the video.
I read the script, we watch the mini film/movie twice and then I pass out the script cut up by paragraph. The students put the script in order and then I play the mini film again. The students are in small groups and they each take turns reading and trying to narrate the mini film. Then, for extra credit, I ask if there is a group that wants to try to narrate one paragraph of the mini film. If not narrate, just read aloud.
The next class period, I show and narrate the mini film as warm-up. Then I give the students the large print sentences, cut up so that they are all separate and tell them they have 5 minutes to put the sentences in order. I explain that this will give them an advantage when they are playing the game. We talk about a few other strategies and then I set the timer.
After 5 minutes, the game starts. The game can be played with the students writing the sentence that corresponds to the slides as they come up or students can find and hold up the sentence that corresponds to the slide. This is up to the teacher. My students actually like writing rather than holding. I have them switch writers after each slide so everyone gets a turn.
On the final day, I have the slide show printed with each picture and I give the cut up sentences to the students as well. The students once again are separated into teams. I give them a couple glue sticks and I tell them to go. The first group to have all of the sentences glued and in order first, wins. I tell them that the first finishing group gets an A for the day and the other finishers get a B for the day.
