This product contains two separate lessons that requires students to discern the purpose for Mary Shelley’s allusion to John Milton’s Paradise Lost in Frankenstein. Included in this product are well-chosen excerpts from Paradise Lost and Frankenstein (from Volume II). Students will compare and contrast the monster with Adam and Lucifer. Writing prompts are also included that can be completed independently before, during, or after the reading. I have used this activity as a discussion and writing assignment.
