The premise of this game is for the students to understand that it is dangerous for
animals when they leave their shelter. There are predators out in the environment looking to eat those animals. There are natural features of the environment that can cause injury and death if not navigated through correctly. However, the animal has to leave the shelter for food. Animals have to compete for food and resources, but they do so with great risk to themselves. The students will play as the apex and secondary predators, while sports balls will act as a lower level predator. This lesson goes very well for reinforcing concepts of food chains.
