This 10 minute video teaches students how to make a delicious one dish meal, often referred to as Shepherd's Pie. Includes safety and sanitation tips, chopping an onion, browning and draining ground beef, and baking a casserole. This is a popular cooking lab in my middle school kitchen. My cooking groups pair up; one group makes the meat and veggie mixture while another group makes the homemade mashed potato topping. The casserole is assembled and refrigerated overnight. On second day, the casserole is baked and enjoyed family style with a set table and beverages poured from a pitcher.
