Product Description
The colonial STEAM and STEM requires students to use understanding of density to create a cargo ship prototype. The engineering design cycle is used as students investigate, plan, create, improve, and evaluate their ship. Students use their observations and collected data to report findings. A leveled text and writing prompts round out this set!

The presented scenario sets students up to create their cargo ship.

Engineering Design Cycle Reflection:
Students will reflect about what they did as they worked through each part of the engineering design cycle.

Data Collection Page:
After students have designed and built their cargo ship prototypes, they will test and record the results. They will record the amount of weight added to the ship before it tipped over or began to sink. Modifications can be made at this time and new tests can be done.

Cargo Ship Report:
Students will complete a one-page report detailing their findings and conclusion.

Grading Rubric:
The grading rubric allows teachers to assess how students used and applied their knowledge of density to explain how their cargo ship was created and data was collected.
