It’s important that we continuously explore the concept of identity and find what makes us who we are. In this group project, students will study poetry in an attempt to analyze and characterize the speaker's identity or the identity of the poem's subject matter. The project allows for student creativity and collaboration as they capture meaning in a shoebox. The project requires students to analyze poetic devices and write using evidence from their assigned poem.
Included in this ready-to-print project: student directions and task assignments, a rubric, peer and self evaluations, reflection questions, a post-activity Gallery Walk assignment, as well as a packet of 9 poems.
Simply print the documents, run copies, and allow students to exercise their creative and collaborative efforts.
