This self-made STEM unit uses the Engineering design process to make shoes for forty minutes a day for a week. Students define a problem, plan solutions, build a model, test the model, and redesign and retest. Students explore building, critical thinking, weight, distribution, and data collection to analyze results. Each sheet of the curriculum PDF goes through the engineering design process to help students build a final product while learning about these different factors. The students are able to cover multiple steps while working towards a common goal. Students pick a Sustainable Developmental Goal to design their shoe and help bring light to a great cause!

This file also includes an instructional video and instructional PowerPoint. This allows for you the teacher to teach it the way I do while also having a physical Powerpoint to reference. This PowerPoint was created to pace students while allowing them to see an agenda every day.

This file includes:

  • Student curriculum
  • instructional PowerPoint
  • Grading Rubric
  • Extension of Activity
  • Instructional video
