Newly updated! Being able to identify the first sound of a word is an important pre-reading skill. Pick one or more sounds for the children to identify. The children then “swat” the fly with the correct picture.
There are six words per letter (except the long U sound which has five words). Vowels have both a long and short words (total of 12 words). The diagraphs include "ch," "sh," and "th." Note: The X words are not all initial sounds. Some of them are final sounds.
