Guided Reading resource by Megan Kirkpatrick
Teachers reading "Shooting the Moon" by Francis O'Roark Dowell can use this document as a work journal for students. It provides focused critical thinking questions for each set of chapters, a schedule to personalize for reading due dates and group meetings, and "tag" sentence starters.
For teachers unfamiliar with "tags" while reading, tags are simply a term that embodies the process of students using reading strategies to comment and reflect on the book and their reading experiences. The "tag" sentence starters are provided to help students begin their sentences in a focused manner in order to demonstrate thinking while reading.
