Use these receipts to record each child’s shopping choices as they shop for parts for their black cats at
the Meow Mall, their snowmen at the Snowman Store, and their leprechauns at the Lucky Leprechaun
Write each child’s name at the top of their receipt and have them watch as you total their sales.
Have the student use real coins to purchase their pieces and show them how you make change after
each individual purchase.
Place the child’s pieces and their receipt in a zip-lock bag until you are ready to have the students
decorate their cat, snowman, or leprechaun.
When students purchase colored chalk or glitter, I place a Post-it with “chalk” or “glitter” written on it
into their zip-lock bag. When they are ready to use the chalk or glitter they bring their project to the
“chalk table” or the “glitter table” where an adult can assist them. Chalk and glitter should be the last
things applied to their project.
These projects make a great buletin board and a wonderful addition to their kindergarten memory books. You can make parts for each project out of ribbon, Fun Foam, construction paper, yarn, or any special trims from the craft store.
You get 2 of each receipt with 2 different amounts of money to spend plus a "fill-in-the-blank" receipt so you can create your own store!
