This is a printable literacy center to help students work on CVC short a words.
In this game there are 24 word cards in two different versions. To play the game - the cards need to be printed out (in color would be best) and laminated or put into clear sleeves. Then using a dry erase marker students trace the words. In the first version of the game there are words in a traceable boxed letter font. This helps beginning students with letter recognition as they build vocabulary skills.
In the second version of the game the letter boxes are empty. Students will need to spell the word that depicts the picture on the card. This is for more advanced students or when you students are ready to practice with less scaffolding.
To make things easy to clean up in "sets" - the games in this packet have been duplicated on 3 different colors of background papers. All of the 24 words are on blue/red/and green backgrounds.
In my class I let partners "A &B" work together with the blue cards. Partners "C & D" use with the red cards, and partners "E & F" use with the green cards. While I am busy doing guided reading with students - they work away busily on these cards.
To make this game reuseable - you will need to provide: dry erase markers & erasers to play (and some kind of laminate or laminate pouches. **Not included**
There are 4 black and white worksheets included to practice or assess the CVC spelling skill of your students.
Please download and view the preview before purchasing to make sure this game meets the needs of your students.
