When I'm introducing short answer responses in my classroom, I find that no matter what acronym or graphic organizer I use, a checklist has the most impact.
I have this checklist on an anchor chart in my room, and I began listing it on their S.A.R. template (thus the birth of this worksheet), so students can physically check off what they have done.
The goal is that students see the checklist often enough that you can wean them away from it after a few practice rounds. This is a great scaffold for students who struggle with writing.
I do use the acronym A.C.E. (more info to come!) alongside this checklist. It works perfectly.
