These are small flapbooks made by students to practice segmenting and blending onsets and rimes. Not only do they get to practice this Common Core skill, but they also get some cutting and coloring practice in! All the students have to do is cut the small pages out, color them, put them in order and staple them together. Most of the words included in the flapbooks are CVC words, but a few include some blends to challenge your more advanced readers.
These flapbooks can be assembled and colored by the students and then used to read with partners or to an adult when completed. Great for mix/pair/share activities, small groups, centers, independent work, or homework. Teachers can easily white out pictures or letters before copying to provide students with a greater challenge.
Look for more flapbooks to include the other short vowels from A Kinder Teacher soon! Happy flapping!
