Product Description
This is everything you need to teach a seven day short fiction unit; it is formatted for IB in that it has an overview of standards included, teaching strategies, a reflection, etc. but this for any teacher is the backdrop for what will be taught and the academic expectations for your students. As in, your school does not need to be an IB school! Included are seven days of lesson plans for you to submit in order to make your life oh, that much easier—at least for the duration of the unit! The short stories “Eleven,” “The Scribe,” “The Tell Tale Heart,” “The Scarlet Ibis,” and “The Sniper” are the vehicles to learn short fiction terms such as plot, theme, protagonist, antagonist, academic and social vocabulary, to name a few. Each day’s lesson includes an Activator, a Mini Lesson, an Activity, a Wrap Up, Common Core Standards in ELA, and homework; you have permission to tweak and edit according to your school’s requirements, but the documents are submission ready for your principal, Vice-principal, etc. Each lesson plan includes links to a PDF of the short story itself; included, too, are links to video adaptations on Youtube, tone and mood Brainpop clips, etc. either to use on your Smartboard or for students to use on their laptops/classroom computers/etc. Also, a self-reflective parent letter is the final component for the unit; this serves as a way for students, themselves, to reflect on their learning process. Enjoy best, Rockermom
