Here's the conundrum I always face when trying to find quick readers for my firsties - all the decodable readers are either:
a. too easy (i see a ball. i see a hall. i see a mall. zzz)
b. too hard
c. too "one thing" - either focused purely on comprehension but in a way my striving readers couldn't read the words, or too focused on phonics that my upper-level kiddos were bored to tears.
This, paired with not having any sort of DRA/reading level guide at my school, led to the creation of this unit.
This is a snippet of a unit I am working on. PLEASE let me know if you like it and would be interested in more.
This unit will feature:
- short readers based on phonics skills (short vowels, long vowels, blends, etc) with actual comprehension questions
- quick teacher guide for asking questions
- tips for use
- running record sheet
AND MORE. Featured is "One Big Pig," featuring a VARIETY of short I words/sounds.
Again, this is a free preview to gauge interest. PLEASE let me know how you like it!!!!
