Short I Word Families with One Consonant Endings
This collection of “short i with one consonant endings” word families, is for first and second-grade readers to review and learn new family words. Word families included are: -id, -im, -in, -ip and -it.
Word family study is a vital part of reading instruction. By learning patterns in our language, children learn to decode and spell new words. I found word families helped my students gain a large vocabulary in a relatively short time.
*Word family posters with illustrations and words (print posters for students in grayscale)
*Illustration, word, and definition strip cards (great for a pocket chart)
*Illustration cards and word cards (every word has an illustration)
*92 activity task cards/ four to a page
Students design, create, write, apply, compare, explain, relate, show, share, and illustrate. These varied activities were designed to engage students in the learning process. I have used the arts integration approach as a means to look outside of the box to engage diverse students and provide for different learning styles. A great way to enrich your students’ vocabularies is to have fun with words.
*NOTE: ALL OF MY WORD FAMILIES SETS CONTAIN THE SAME TASK CARDS and TEMPLATES FOR ACTIVITIES.
*33 templates for activities or examples
