This is set up similar to 4 square graphic organizers. There are areas for a topic sentence and summary sentence. One square would be for one detail/evidence and the second square would be for explaining it. The third square would be for a second detail/evidence and the fourth square would be to explain it. Arrows connect boxes 1 and 2, and 3 and 4 to show the relationship. This was designed in mind for short response questions like those on the NYS ELA test. It can be used for other questions that require two details and explanation. I know it can be used with students in grades 5-8. You would have to judge for yourself if it could be used for lower grades. I tried to make it more interesting by making it to resemble a house.
