Each Monday morning, I post a short story for my students to read and discussion questions for my students to answer in a response paper. These responses are always due the following Sunday (Short Story Sunday).
I assign J.D. Salinger's "A Perfect Day for Bananafish" following WWII, typically in our beginning conversations on the post-WWII economic boom of the 1950s. It can also allow for a larger conversation on soldiers' mental health and the struggles that soldiers face when returning to society following war. Please keep in mind this short story may be best suited for older audiences as the end contains a violent scene.
This upload contains:
1. Short Story Sunday Instructions
2. J.D. Salinger's "A Perfect Day for Bananafish"
3. Two discussion questions for the students over the reading
