Product Description
This a wonderfully interactive and creative way to both teach the elements of narrative literature, as well as engage students in the writing process in such a fun and playful way, that students won’t realize just how fully they understand the “BIG Five” elements of literature: setting, characters, plot, conflict, and theme. Using Flocabulary’s R.A.P. video to pique students interest in literary elements, as well as “The Pit and the Pendulum” to apply their knowledge—also a Flocabulary video—then, play dough to demonstrate their understanding of these same elements, an “exquisite corpse” interactive writing method, and an extension of the activity in the form of acting original stories out to the class equals two (or three!) days of pure enjoyment in the learning process. I’ve included Activators, Mini Lessons, Activities, Wrap Ups, and English Language Arts Core Standards for both days, as well as Day One’s hand-out to use with “The Pit and the Pendulum,” or ANY piece of literature you’d like to use with your class to allow students to “show what they know!” Have fun with this! You won’t be disappointed! Best, Rockermom
