This is an ongoing project of mine to get more students interesting in reading English. I started it after so many students (especially boys, ages 14-17) complained about having to read. I got a group together and we made suggestions for writing. This group of stories is truly for students and by students! I give each student a questionaire at the end of reading so they can help me to steer the project in a direction that interests them. One student (16) wrote about The Game:
"The story was really good but also harder... in terms of the structure and the plot it was very interesting.. I'd like to read more stories like this more often because in the school we don't get stories like this.." (translated from German)
The Story of Levi Strauss - Passive Voice
The Story of Henry John Heinz - Simple Past
The Game - Past Perfect
Martin's Wish - Simple Present
Danger at Sea - Simple Past Progressive
Each story focuses on a particular grammar topic, and there are 3-4 text comprehension questions and 3-4 fill in the blank grammar exercises.
The Story of Levi Strauss and The Story of Henry John Heinz are available separately!
