Students, working individually or in small groups, write a short fiction story from a basic outline. Students must research ways to save electricity in the home, thus learning about electricity. Students must describe the characters and the action in the story.
Students begin by reading the story outline and discussing the possibilities with their peers. Students then follow the student guide to add details to the story. After students have completed the guide, they type their story and have the story peer edited.
Students could each write their own stories, or students could work in small groups to write the story.
This unit includes:

• A story line sheet for students to fill out
• A student guide to help the student research how electricity can be saved in the home and add some of those ideas to the story. Students must cite the sites used and take notes.
