In groups of 4-5, students deconstruct and analyze one short story element from an assigned short story and present their analysis to the class. The purpose of this assignment is to a) assess their ability to analyze a piece of text, using and discussing key passages and b) assess their ability to work together as a group and present orally in front of an audience.
The four groups are: Character/Characterization, Plot and Conflict, Title and Theme, Narration and Style.
The students prepare a 15-20 minute "teaching" presentation for the class about their assigned short story element.
