Short Story Literary Element Overview Graphic Organizers

Product/Materials Preface:

My Short Story Literary Element Overview Graphic Organizers come in 6 styles with an optional add-on page that allows students to further explore, analyze, and evaluate high order thinking literary elements. The organizers provide space to report the basic elements of literature such as: Protagonist, Antagonist, Point of View, Genre, Setting, Plot, etc. Every organizer also provides space to record a micro response to literature where students have to analyze and evaluate one of the more rigorous literary elements such as: Conflict, Dualisms, Symbolism, Situational Irony, and Universal Themes. There is also an open-ended form where you can fill in your own response element. I have also added a mini-lesson overview/review of the four major literary elements of literature.

These organizers are perfect for use with short stories but should not be limited to just this form. You can use the visual aids for independent reading, shared readings, guided reading, book clubs, and literature circles. They also work perfect with episodic television and cartoons. Use the graphic organizers for a quick bulletin board display or as prewriting activities to help bolster student writing. Remember, you are only limited by your imagination!
