This is an entire unit on Personal Narrative Short Stories. It is designed as a curriculum map and guide for the teacher and the student with daily assignments, a common Short Story Organizer, and daily wrap-up questions and exit slips.
In this zip file, there is also included a presentation for print or class viewing on the Elements of a Short Story to be using in completing Day 1 activities.
Also includes many internet activities, including a webquest and biography scavenger hunits. Worksheets are in Word format and could be easily adapted for your classroom, if desired. Most short stories are provided through links to the internet, but may also be found in most Literature textbooks. This is designed with the standard short stories on personal experiences suggested for sophomores.
Includes What Happened During the Ice Storm by Heynen, The Cold Equations by Godwin, The Bass, The River, and Sheila Mant by Wetherrell, Mr. Parker by Colwin, Boys and Girls by Munro, Everyday Use by Alice Walker, and Travels with Charley by Steinbeck. This is designed as a 20 day unit with reading, author analysis, and a personal writing assignment. Could be easily adapted for more or less days. Instructional PPt links also provided.
