In this activity students read a short story and break it up into 4-6 of the most important scenes. They then plan tableaux to recreate those scenes. Students enjoy this activity because they get to move around the classroom and plan their freeze frame tableau. This lesson took several 50 minute class periods depending on the stories you choose for the activity. I chose Edgar Allen Poe for Halloween but this can be used for any story. I have even used this for nursery rhymes. This is a great way to integrate art into your classroom.
