This 2-week unit focuses on introducing students to the various narrators they might encounter in any piece of fiction. I picked stories that involve magical realism, constructs, and the media. They challenge the reader to question reality. For that reason, I titled the unit, "Imagination or Reality?" This short story unit includes activities for the following short fiction:

"The Enormous Radio" by John Cheever

"Videotape" by Don DeLillo

Prologue and first chapter of Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison

first chapter of Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka

excerpts from Gulliver's Travels by Jonathan Swift

Dubliners by James Joyce

Unit #2:

This 2-week unit focuses on introducing students to the various narrators they might encounter in any piece of fiction.
