Kids love popping balloons, so what better way to teach short vowels than with a balloon pop! This file includes 5 Smartboard activities - one for each of the short vowels. Students will pop a balloon and decide if that picture has the short vowel in it or not. Use large craft sticks to engage every child by writing "yes" on one side of the stick and "no" on another. When a balloon is popped, have students show you their answer using the craft stick. This also allows you to assess students with a glance!
