Short Vowel CVC Word Play-Doh Mats:
Use these CVC (consonant, vowel, consonant) play-doh mats to help your students with initial, medial, and ending sounds. All 5 vowels are included. Each mat consists of the CVC word, clip art, and space for the child to write the word. Two formats are included for differentiation. More challenging play-doh mats are also included. These require students to use clip art to help them spell the CVC word on their own. Answer sheets are provided for children to check their work. My students love doing these for centers and they are great to build those fine motor skills!
These play-doh mats fulfill the following Common Core State Standards:
RF.K.2.D: Isolate and pronounce the initial, medial vowel, and final sounds (phonemes) in three-phoneme (consonant-vowel-consonant, or CVC) words.1 (This does not include CVCs ending with /l/, /r/, or /x/.)
RF.K.3.A: Demonstrate basic knowledge of one-to-one letter-sound correspondences by producing the primary sound or many of the most frequent sounds for each consonant.
