Short Vowel Dominoes is a fun way for students to practice reading CVC words including words with digraphs. This game can be used in your literacy centers, during independent practice time, intervention groups, or even taken home for homework to be played with parents!
My students take this game to their regular education classroom for independent/partner work at their level.
For easy storage, I print out the cover page and tape it to a manilla envelope and put the game pieces inside.
How to play:
Put one domino in the middle, and divide the other dominoes between the players. Players take turns matching up short vowel sounds. They need to read each word before placing their domino down. If a player cannot lay down a domino, they lose their turn. The player who lays down all their dominoes first is the winner.
Adapt the rules as needed to best fit the needs of your students.
